I went to Elk mountain and it was so crowded. On the intermediate trails, there were people trying to teach their 7 year olds to ski, the snow cover was non-exsistant on many trails, with large patches of ice. The line for a lift ticket was 30-45 minutes long, a 15 minute wait to get into the cafeteria, with no place to sit. We got there at 10:30 but were not able to get onto the slopes for 2 HOURS due to lines everywhere, including the rest room. While waiting in line for the lift, somebody slipped at the landing and the operator didn't bother to stop the lift but slowed it down instead so the person was knocked down by the lift. In the bar, don't expect food because nobody will wait on you. Also, expect to spend most of your time trying to avoid little kids that are too inexperienced to be on the blue and black trails with their parents yelling at them to "stop crying, its not that steep".
Oh yeah, half the mountain closes at 4:30, so its a complete rip off because you have to wait a half hour for the lift each time. I guess a lot of people found out about Elk Mountain so it is very crowded now and not worth your time.
