Full review

In response to the last posting-Okay this IS east coast skiing and more accurately, skiiing in Pennsylvania. We are not comparing this to West coast or even Vermont skiing. But if you live in Pa-what are your close range choices for a getaway weekend? Although I don't want to attract the crowds, we are the BIGGEST fans of Elk. It is PA's best kept secret! We have skied the challenging (as in not always prime conditions) slopes of many PA mountains and Elk has never disappointed us. It is nearly a 3 hour drive for us,but always well worth it. Our family still talks about a trip we made there @ 3 years ago where it rained the entire drive up and we were ready to turn back and head home. However, once we hit the base of Elk mountain, the rain turned to snow and we enjoyed a full day of one of the best skiing conditions we have experienced in PA. THAT is Elk. The trees along the trails are beautiful. The vistas from the top of the mountain are breathtaking. The staff is MORE than friendly-especially the bearded guy who monitors the lodge-he keeps the skis and boards OUT of the lodge! The only thing Elk needs, is a high speed lift...I'm willing to start a fund to raise the money to achieve this! Kickapoo- here we come!
