Been going to Camelback regularly over the past few years- have enjoyed the length of the trails and the shape of the trails- Many of Camelbacks trails are not just straight up and down like some other PA resorts (Big Boulder /Jack Frost) Trails like Nile Mile bend and turn and make for a fun run- Trails like Cliffhanger are more challanging.
I come with anywhere from one to three of my kids and ski from 8:30-12:30am on Sunday mornings- We don't rent-we usually get there early -ski for 3 1/2 - 4 hours and leave - not crowded early in morning able to get a lot of runs in
CHANGES- Went on Fri Jan 2- got there before 8:30am - top level of parking closed unless you wanted to pay $15 preferred parking fee - walked up to buy ticket- in past many windows open and never waited more than 2 or 3 people. new set up doesn't have as many windows open and have the windows specialized- rentals at one window- lift tickets only at another- waited 15 minutes- Prices have gone up -$53 for Adult/holiday(in this economy-bad move) There is no longer the discounted 8:30-12:30 morning pass. If you arrive early , you must choose all day/pay more. Went to lower indoor locker room- It is now closed- had to use the outdoor lockers- not convenient.
Skiing was great, conditions were good. got too crowded later on which is expected for weekend. At end of the day ate at restaurant at top of the mountain. - disappointed- no more deli sandwiches -onlydogs/burgers/chicken fingers/fries. Better off stopping somewhere else on way home. At 1:30pm left and saw huge lines at ticket booth-
ticket/rental lines snaked all the way down to old lower locker room.
Overall nice mountain, but changes are bad-price gauging for parking and higher lift prices, less locker room space, less food choice, longer ticket lines, will lose customers. I will be going to Blue Mountain more often this year.
Helpful Hint on crowded days- Find Marc Anthony chairlift- It is hidden away and has little wait lines even on busy days
