Easy drive from large east coast cities, fun terrain park, nice staff
I skied Blue Mtn when it was Little Gap and have been skiing for 30 years in east coast and out west. This mtn has decent vertical for PA and I think they try to offer a good experience. Here is where it falls short:
1. ICE, ICE ,ICE - gromming has alot to be desired. It can be dangerous to ski the two from the top in icy conditions and that seems to be the norm there recently.
2. Reckless skiers - accidents waiting to happen if you do not watch yourself. Ski patrol does not seem to care.
3. "Highest vertical in PA" thats great only if you are willing to do a 1000 yard run out at the bottom on nearly flat terrain so that they can get the extra 82 feet to make the claim.
4. Double Black Diamonds - come on give me a break! the only thing that makes them Double Black even by eastern standards is the impenetrable ice that you need to try to carve on.
I ski it when I do not have time time to drive further north but I have come away disappopinted more recently that satisfied.
