Blue Mountain provides an excellent mountain for skiers/riders from Novice to Advanced. The mountain is huge compared to many other competitors such as Bear Creek, Ski Roundtop, Shawnee Mtn, CamelBack, etc. Only other eastern Pennsylvania mountain to compare in size would be Elk. I do not see how people in these review forums complain about "ice" at Blue. Once again, with the exception of Elk, the snow quality at Blue is in a different league when compared to the other mountains in the region. The staff does a great job keeping the slopes in excellent condition and the terrain parks manicured to perfection. The only complaints are about the lodges and food. Pack a lunch because you will spend as much on food for the day as you did on your lift ticket. The Lower Lodge basically reminded me of a dirty high school cafeteria, however the upper lodge is much nicer. But hey, i'd rather have a nice mountain and a crappy lodge, than a nice lodge and a crappy mountain (cough, cough, Bear Creek!) In conclusion, if you live in southeastern PA and want a nice satisfying day on the mountain, Blue is the place to go. If you have an extra hour to spare in the car, give Elk a try. However, I find them to be equals as far as the skiing is concerned.
