We love Blue Knob. Yes, it might be bitter cold, blow you down windy, can get kind of icy (on top) but there are never lift lines. Upper and Lower Mambo give you a great relaxing 1 mile run if you just want to take an easy run. Plus, there are plenty of other runs that will sufice all other ski abilities. The lodge is a bit dated and the food is not too great. Unless of course you get the, carved in front of you, Turkey dinner they serve for lunch in the bar for like 8 bucks. The hospitality is always friendly. We have stayed on the mountain the past 2 ski seasons, with kids - it's a great weekend getaway(from the DC area). We have also gone without the kids and hung out at the bar in Alpine Village - the food there was good & reasonably priced, but it did get busy and packed. If you want the glitz and glamor...go to Seven Springs!
