Bear Creek is what it is, a small , 500 vertical foot mountain on the western fringe of the Lehigh Valley. So it will never be a mountain that takes your breath away with its vistas and challenging terrain. All that being said, Bear Creek does an exceptional job in customer service and gets high marks for being a great place to take the family skiing and is a terrific hill to teach your kids to ski. The snowmaking at Bear Creek is very good. I am amazed with the variable weather they get how fast they can get the mountain back into decent shape. The base lodge is second to none in the Poconos and better than most in VT (heck, they even have WiFI for those who would rather sit by the fireplace and surf the web while their kids surf the slopes) While I will never be a snowboarder fan, the resort caters to them (smart for business I think) and has what appears to be a terrifc terrain park (not that I am good judge of that). Finally, Sasquatch is a terrific if small trail, it has a double fall line (left to right) that makes skiing the left edge a challenge that exceeds anything at Blue, JF & BB, Camelback or pretty much any Eastern PA ski-area. Again we are not talking Starr or Goat but for 500 feet or so it is great trail to fine tune your steep skills.
