Great area. Lots of varied terrain, with Eastern exposure for lighter(by NW standards) snow than the rest of Hood. It gets very busy at times but I can always find a pocket of side country pow. Heather Canyon is some of the best sustained 35-40 degree off pist skinning on Hood. Would be a great place for a family as there are a lot of amenities. Expensive food and beer for the quality. For all the people complaining about heavy snow, If its 40 and raining no shit, but when its dumping an inch an hour its some of the best on the west coast. Good trees off main runs like the Jefferson glades and some amazing tree skiing in Jacks Woods. No night life to speak of because there are no slope side accommodations. Hood River and Government Camp both have great après ski and that's where you'll be staying if on a multi day run. High dollar skiers can get a little uppity
