After evaluating our snowpack, reviewing the upcoming weather outlook and discussing the situation with our mountain operations team, we must announce that this Sunday, May 10, will be the final day of the 2014-2015 winter season.
This was a difficult decision and one that I wish we didn't have to make. I was hoping we could make it to our planned closing date of May 24, but at the rate we're losing snow the goal of staying open until Memorial Day weekend is no longer realistic. There is a very slight chance we could reconsider this decision should the incoming weather front outperform the forecast and deliver significant new snow this week, but that has not been our luck this season. Regardless, I encourage you to continue checking our snow conditions page for the latest information.
Additionally, we have decided to cancel the Pond Skimming Championships that were scheduled for this Saturday. This was also a tough decision as we all enjoy the tradition of watching skiers and boarders try to make it across the pond. Unfortunately, the limited base area snow will not allow for a sufficiently deep pool to safely carry out the event.
I am hoping that many of you can satisfy your remaining skiing and riding urges this week and will join us on the mountain. We're moving full speed ahead with the BrewSki Beer Festival this weekend, which will serve as our season finale. Ski or ride in the morning then sample some of Central Oregon's best beers and enjoy live music from Noon until 3:00 p.m. both days.
Midweek Pass holders, please join us this weekend as well; all passes will be valid to use every day through our Sunday closing date. And for those of you with days remaining on your 12 Day Pass or 4-Pack, I encourage you to visit during our final days so you can get maximum value out of your 2014-2015 purchase.
On behalf of the entire team at Mt. Bachelor, thank you for your loyalty this season. Our crews will continue working hard to create the best skiing and riding experience possible right up until the last day, so I hope you can get a few more turns. I am looking forward to a fun finale weekend and am already praying to the snow gods for a deep, powder-filled snow year in 2015-2016!
