mt ashland is a nice little area. some steep terrain, and great for a day trip out of ashland. not particularly well run, it suffers from slow charlifts and a general lack of the advanced amenities that skiers have come to expect. on those nice ski days however, after the big storms or with blue skys, it really cant be beat, just 30 minutes out of ashland. in fact, i've been skiing in a snowstorm on the mountain with 12 feet of snowpack, only to descend back to ashland and find townies riding their bicycles in shorts and flip flops. i've got to pinch myself everytime i make the journey to Mt A.
