What a great place to really ski. The weather can be harsh but if you are not prepared for that in Oregon I suggest you gear up. Some of the best pure fall-line skiing top to bottom on lift served stuff anywhere. The lodge is old, small, funky. But the bar is inviting. The staff here really care about your experience. For being 20 minutes from a very livable town you can't beat it.
Beginners will have a tough time here, but the resort has been trying for like THIRTY YEARS to change that. Most skiers and boarders consider themselves environmentally aware. Well, if you want new terrain at our resorts get involved. It takes a handful of activists to stand in the way of change. Mt. Ashland has been trying to expand terrain that would provide more intermediate access. The problem is it is about the city of Ashland watershed. I know the resort has mitigated EVERY concern. So, if you can, stand up for this fun place to enjoy winter at its finest. Ashland has a high base elevation and is actually closer to the coast thatn any other place in Oregon. Hence, it gets DUMPED on quite frequently.
Check it out. Stay in Ashland. Enjoy good restaurants and inexpensive lodging. Well worth the trip.
