Hoodoo is an affordable and family-friendly ski area with a variety of terrains and the typical friendliness one expects in Central Oregon. Many shoots satisfy even the most advanced skier and meandering beginner slopes allow even the beginner to ski the almost 1000 ft vertical from the summit. The staff does an excellent job keeping the slopes to the highest standards. But the thing that makes Hoodoo one of the world most family-friendly places is its size and affordability. You pretty much always know where your kids are and it is no problem for the parents to ski an advanced slope while the kiddies enjoy their 'small-size diamonds'. And if you buy your season passes in the spring, a family of 5 skies for about $1,000 for the entire season. The lodge is newer and has all the amenities you'd expect, except the food is just a bit better and cooked to order. Add to all of this the friendliest staff imaginable and the somewhat longer drive to get there is well worth it.
