  • Ohio Rebounds

    The winter weather is slowly improving over most of the Heartland, but it's taken its toll. Ski areas in Ohio – Snow Trails, Mad River Mountain and Boston Mills were finally able to open briefly late last week, but all had to close down again over the weekend; again waiting for cold weather with hopefully some snow, but more importantly temperatures cold enough to make snow.     Mad River Mountain, located in Ohio near historic Bellfontaine, opened for the season this week with 95-percent of its terrain ready to go and a snow base of up to 38-inches; a testament to the additional snowmaking power the area added over the summer. Full Article

  • Mad River Lights its Guns

    Mad River ski area, out there in Zanesfield, Ohio, is keeping a finger in the wind as winter approaches. The area was hoping to start spinning today, and may still as temperatures drop, but the mountain staff says they want to make sure everything is ready to go for 2006/07 before lighting the fires.
