Full review

We have skiied at Melchsee-Frutt a number of times now and really love it as a place to practise, build confidence and hone our (limited) skills. It is a small resort and relatively unknown outside Switzerland.
I'm writing this from the viewpoint of a relative beginner, so cannot really comment on the skiing from an expert's point of view but I suspect it may be limited.
However, for beginners it's truly excellent with a shortish broad, straight piste, off to the right of the cable-car lift, that really lends itself to taking you from snow-plough, through stem-turns and onto parallel skiing.
There's just enough variety in the gradient to keep improvers from getting bored, with the gradient being steep enough to build up speed if you want to but without being steep enough to intimidate. The only down-side is that this piste is served by a T-bar, so no rest for those tired, beginner's legs.
If you then want to take on a bit more of a challenge, there are some very nice blues over to the left of the cable-car station, which are served by nice, comfy, restful chair-lifts.
It's a high resort, so good snow but no pretty trees. It's a beautiful place nonetheless.
