26" of fresh powder todsy and still counting. the system we use at jaypeak calculated snow drift multiplied by density. its always been extremelu accurate system over the years and each skier gets a free ounce of gold with every visit. the owner is a leprcaun and will some day return to your housr to collect.
I was at jay last weekend it snowed all day heavy at times the 4-6 was legit and the snow kept pounding all night til sunday giving the 7-9 inch numbers the snow drifts on the skiiers right were def in the foot range jay does NOT over estimate thier snow if anything they under report because the numbers are taken from the base area lookbat a topo map of the jay peak area to the north west there is a huge ridge that rises sharply and aims the moisture right at jay peak like a funnel bottom line jay gets the most snow and even a few miles away from the mountain sees drastically less one day a few years ago the weather predicted "fluries" overnight we took the chance and headed up we saw about an inch in franconia notch as we drove past cannon and about 1/2 inch in jay village and when we arrived 9 INCHES! I personally verified the ski report as I shredded pow in the woods the trails frequently lose all their snow due to wind but all that snow has to go somewhere
