For the money you spend on all these trips might as well go to b.c. where the real skiing is at. stowe lol please thats like mt snow easy. smugglers notch is better than jay and stowe. after seeing all of these mountains in summer and winter can confirm smugglers is the rock drop steep technical top of the line for vermont. catskills are about 150 times more rugged than vermont, just dont have the same snowfall amounts or elevation. if you looking for the biggest rock drops they are not anywhere in vermont. most skiers are not interested or capable so this argument is for very limited audience of elite skiers only. fluff bowl skiers need not apply.

There is a lot of odd talk on here (ie. Catskills being good? Wtf). Jays only competition east of colorado is stowe. Both are great with gnarly terrain and many pow days.

i enjoy skiing anywhere i go. it def a fun spot but i wasnt blown away by anything. you challenge me to a race, first you have prove you can actually keep up without me having to stop every 5 turns to wait for you.

Anyone know the specifics about which trails are open? I'm guessing Haynes and the Jet but am curious about the others.

the whole mountain is gladed runs top to bottom. if your on a green trail there are green glades then blacks have the black glades. just dont hit liftline until you capable of hitting technical drop offs on skis.

jay have some fun tree runs but lacking in the dropoff department. not sure what the can do about that as the mountains have very little rock formations in vermont. the catskill mountain have far and beyond gnarly terrain but lacking in development and most important powder. still waiting to see a company like Line do a backcoyntry film in the catskills. really insane lines out there if big snow come.
