snow? ice? below freezing with 40mph winds? You look at it as horrible, I see a challenge. You wanna ride powder move west. ive been up and down the east coast and the only place ive seen balls deep snow year after year is Jay Peak. quit bickering and get in the trees you whining beeeeotches
I'm at Jay right now, and they didn't get 2". Conditions are atrocious--the coverage that is there is ice and boiler plate. The rest is rocks, dirt, grass, and stumps. Only a couple lifts are running and about 28 trails are open. The weather isn't their fault, but they shouldn't lie about what they're getting.
I thought the mountain would be destroyed after the rain, however the crew have done an ok job keeping the remaining runs open. Lots of snow blowing going on in prep for tomorrow.
The ice and the snow blowers are not great for beginners, however there were enough soft spots to help a turn almost all the way down.
Today was worth the effort. The cold required 1 extra layer.
overall quality. 5/10. worth it if you were here already.
Guestimate for tomorrow is probably about the same.
