Snowfall at Whistler Blackcomb reached record highs this month and the mountain is already close to beating it's annual snowfall average with 877 centimetres or 345 inches of snow falling in Whistler this season. According to available data, is the most the resort has seen by this time in January ever. The previous record was 827 centimetres by January 31 in 1992.

The first superpipe of the season in the Tahoe area made its debut last week at Boreal. The 450-foot-long, 18 ½-foot-high pipe, which is groomed twice daily and whose 15-degree walls qualify it as "an Olympic-caliber terrain-park feature," is awaiting skiers and snowboarders on the Race Course Run. Despite the mild weather, Canada's Mont Tremblant has fired up its arsenal of 912 snow guns and opened up 66 trails for skiing this past weekend. With colder temperatures predicted for the coming week, and perhaps some natural snow as well, snowmaking activity should continue full tilt to give skiers and riders summit to base terrain as well as coverage on the north side Snowpark. It was a cold, raucous weekend in Sun Valley for the first stop on the Honda Ski Tour. "We probably had 5000 people here to watch the skier cross on Saturday," says Sun Valley spokesperson Jack Sibbach. "People were loving it."

A hazardous weather outlook has road crews bracing for the worst in North Carolina and Cataloochee Ski Area looking for a reprieve from unseasonably warm temperatures. Deer Valley has had the best of the best bumping the slopes for the Chevrolet Freestyle International World Cup. The snow is so good in Utah that Deer Valley offered to hold an additional World Cup aerial event, due to warm temperatures at Lake Placid, NY. Full Article

Talk about making the most of your conditions, Perfect North this Monday was bemoaning another wet day in the lower Midwest, but they made the most of it.
