Staying at L'Alpage du Chantel in Arc 1800 was our very first skiing experience. Ski in, ski out, leisure facilities inc gym, pool, hamman, sauna etc make a big difference to families with children to entertain. Early morning warm up sessions in the gym are also fun. The following year we tried a similar residence in La Plagne. We went back to 1800. We then tried 1950, fantastic experience, but 1800 is on the sunny side of the mountain!!! We went back to 1800. There are runs in across the resort (1600, 1800, 1950 & 2000, not forgetting Peisey/Vallandry & the Paradiski cable car to La Plagne) to suit everyone for a weeks family skiing holiday. We're off to 1800 again in December. We mostly travel by car to the alps, but last year took Eurostar to Paris then the sleeper snowtrain right into Bourg St Maurice, funicular to 1600 & bus to 1800. We checked into our appartment in Charvet and skied all day. Fantastic.
