Very good for school group accepting that the runs to resort are very difficult. Lots of traversing to get to top. Good all round resort without being great.

ridiculous lifts from the resort to the slopes will take you nearly 1 hour 45 just to get up to the top. only 2 main lifts really!!!!! with so many people trying to get up from the resort would never go there again
Some nice runs at the top

It was the first time i had ever been skiing, but it was really good. there are some really good red/black runs and if you get a couple of ski lifts to the top you can ski all the way down back to the town. near the top the views were great and the snow was fantastic, however im not sure if its because of the time of year i visited (february) but as you get nearer the town there were huge patches of mud on the run. even when there was snow it was poor and slushy. it was my first time skiing but i managed to ski the black run after a week so i would rate it a serious beginner resort. apart from a couple of pubs and resteraunts, not much to do in the evening.
great linking runs/ less than a minute walk from hotel to slopes
limited number of runs/ poor snow
2Alps is an enormous resort with its own glacier offering year-round skiing. For snowboarders, it also has an impressive board park that gets moved to the glacier in the summer. Although the vast ski area gets frequent dumps of snow through the winter, the lack of trees on the mountain and the sometimes gale-force winds usually blow the fresh stuff away (the two main gondolas usually get closed while this happens too). If you do manage to get good conditions though, head up to the glacier and have an explore round the un-pisted, un avalanche controlled ‘La Grave’ (take a guide). What 2Alp lacks in conditions, it makes up for in resort night life. ‘Smokey Joes’ bar (located right near to the main Jandris lift in the centre of town) offers great après ski as does ‘The Red Frog’ located at the top end of town. For a meal that is, quite frankly, out of this world head to the ‘Celliere’ (just round the corner from the Red Frog) but book up in advance.

There are some really good red/black runs here, but after 3 days, you will have covered them all. One of the best day's skiing I have had was down to La Grave. The skiing was only red/black level, but you are out on the mountain on your own. You really need better directions than the piste map given away at the top. We thought we were lucky on a clear day not to find ourselves on cliffs (to the left of our piste), and if the cloud came in, I would imagine it could be dangerous. The woods at the bottom were a chore as well. Off piste guide (sold by Facewest) provided excellent information on both La Grave and on some other easy off-piste options in 2 Alpes. For beginners, the resort is inverted compared to most French resorts (i.e. the best blue slopes are at the top). This does mean that the beginners get good snow, but have a long journey home, involving lifts, at the end of the day. Don't know anything about lessons or about night life. I don't go skiing to drink expensive beer, and sleep through the morning.
