Just back from a fabulous week skiing in Le grand Bornand. We stayed in a large chalet right on the pistes in Le Chinaillon, and had a perfect holiday. The children had a ski school right next door, based in a lovely mountain restaurant - le Solaret - which has possibly the best hot chocolate anywhere in the world...
We were able to walk to the shops and restaurants and spent cozy evenings all together in front of the fire. Even though there has not been any real snow in the French Alps for a while, this resort seems to have more snow cannon that anywhere, and they have made a fantastic job of keeping all the groomed pistes in very good condition.
The only thing I would say is that sole of the pistes can be a little hard as the weather is very cold at the moment - but while there we heard it was one of the resorts with the best snow cover in France, and I can believe it based on what we saw. We will definitely be back next year - a superb family experience!
