Found on the opposite side of the valley to Les Arcs, La Rosiere is a great resort.

La Rosiere doesn't seem to attract the crowds that frequent it's neigbours (Arcs, La Plagne, Val D'Isere, Tignes), which is surprising as the terrain is very good, lots of variety to suit beginners and experts alike. It also has the added bonus of linking in with La Thuile, in Italy, making for a surprisingly large ski area. It's great to be able to ski over to Italy, have a photo at the border, then partake of an authentic pizza lunch before heading for home. There's some good, and easily accessible, off-piste available too.

The pass that links La Rosiere to La Thuile has one of the longest drag lifts in the world. The lift runs mostly flat so it's not too much of a pain, and you can always contemplate on the fact that this is where Hannibal crossed the alps with his elephants.

The ski school in La Rosiere is excellent and it really is a resort that caters well for families. Unfortunately, the nightlife is not that great but if you're in a group then you can easily make your own entertainment.

I like this place.
