Stayed in Belle Pagne first week of Jan 2011. Very few green runs so you need to have some ability already. Snow conditions were a mix of packed ice lower down and better powdery stuff higher up.
We were there for 4 days with lessons in the afternoon for some of the group so didn't get a chance to fully explore the extensive area. There was enough runs within the immediate area to keep people happy though and although some of the blues can get steep in places they are all quite wide. If you are just getting going on a snowboard avoid La Tunnel as it has too much flat stuff. Other runs are flat in places but are more manageable.
Nightlife is quiet but all the restaurants are children friendly.
I booked a package and stayed in the Casiopee. It was basic and clean with a good design of accomodation. I'd probably look at organising accom, lift passes and travel independently next time. also ESF's definition of Intermediate seems to be higher than the UK level my children had attained. I'd suggest investing in lessons in England to get the most out of your time in this area.
