For those of us living in the sunny southeast, Sugar Mountain is a blessing. 1200 vertical may not seem huge by any Rocky Mtn standard but this is the part of the country where we can play golf in the morning then drive three hours and ski that same night. Sugar is a great place to get the legs warmed up as my ski buddies and I anticipate our annual pilgramage to one of the Colorado/Utah/Montana ski resorts in the Rockies. With skiing in the south timing is everything. If you can catch a winter storm and not get stuck behind some southerners who are clueless on how to drive in the snow, then Sugar is a great destination.
