Guys- lighten up on Beech - it is NC skiing. Appalachian is a bunny hill, Sugar is icy and blowing snow 24/7 even on a great powder day- we ski Colorado - A Basin , Breck, Alta and Park City in Ut- this is NC. Vertical sucks but upper White Lightning is okay especialy if you break left right before dropping in - you can get decent air and it's pretty good . Equipment variety is good, people are pretty cool and the base area seems to be fixed up a bit - IT IS NC SKIING- go out and enjoy the slopes - Southern Star , Shawnahee , Whilte Lightning - it 's alll good - if you want sick vert, real powder, and ridiculous out of bounds skiing - PAY THE MONEY AND GO WEST - otherwise it beats the heck out of most NE ice skating ski resorts and there is great pizza on Beech Mt Parkway and everything you need at Freds- in the summer it is awesome for biking-hiking- white water rafting w Edge of the World , gem mining, fishing, horseback riding- or just chlling at 65 degrees when the vallley is 85 . SKI BEECH - get out there and rip it up and have some fun
