I love going to Cataloochee, since it is close to Atl. The staff is friendly and always helpful, if asked. Group sales staff makes any group experience great. Cataloochee usually is the first to open in the south, and runs into mid March before closing for the season. On weekends, the slopes can become super crowded with inexperienced skiers and boarders. Long lift lines and out of control skiers are a problem when crowded. If you can go during the week, you can almost have the slopes to yourself. That is definitely the best time to go.
