We are heading back to Cat for the 2nd year in a row. We like that it's close to Maggie Valley which makes for a fun family trip and its drive time from Nashville. It has better snow than Ober Gatlinburg and is a great place to learn. We have kids 4-11 and they really got a lot out of the all day ski school; great teachers who were kind and attentive. Both girls (8 and 10) learned to ski by the end of the first day and we had a good day skiing together the 2nd day. Going to try the 4 year old this year in the ski school - it's great; you can drop off the kids and pick them up at 4. They got lunch and had fun with other kids their age.
I founf the ski rental folks fun - they were helpful. If you are going get there as early as you can and you'll avoid the rush. Weekends are not so great so know that in advance although if you have kids in ski school, weekends are better because more kids makes for a better experience.
Overall great for snowboarders and skiiers. Not Utah but a great drive-time place, especially if you live in Nashville or ATL.
