We were at Appalachian on 12/30/07...a day of rain. HOWEVER, this was our 2 kids first experience skiing and the French Swiss Ski School did a fabulous job teaching our boys how to ski. A total of 2 hours of instruction (minus the poles ..yeah!) and 1 hour of practice runs on Appaltizer and they were off to the races. We opted out of the last 1/2 hour because they were drenched (nothing is waterproof for 4 hours!) As for the ski resort itself, for my husband, not much challenge (out west skier, etc). I grew up in NC so I knew that Appalachian was the best place to learn. Their lifts are very quick, few lift lines, nice staff and not a lot of walking from run to run (hint...Sugar Mtn)made it a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Thanks Appalachian for not disappointing us!
