For three years running, [R435R, Sugarbush Resort] in Warren, Vt. has been offering full day off-piste adventure packages that are perfect for groups, company outings and meetings. Load up in their 12-person, custom fitted Cabin Cat and prepare to be immersed in a world where the only limits are the ones you set. If it's snowing, early risers can grab the best lines with Powder-Morning First Tracks and journey out before the lifts spin. Couples and groups can enjoy cat-access remote fireside dining and private group rentals at Mt. Ellen. After a hearty meal, guest may ski down by moonlight. 


The ultimate adventure explores the Slide Brook Wilderness Basin and Sugarbush side country on an Outback Tour led by Warren Miller legend John Egan. This celebrity-led session provides aspiring backcountry skiers the chance to learn from a real pro. Egan's tour is offered in two-, three- and six-hour sessions that focus on tree skiing, cliff jumping, hike-to-get-to runs or backcountry ski mountaineering.


Travel: Sugarbush is conveniently located off Interstate 89 in Central Vermont, easy driving distances from NYC an Boston.

Basic Package: First-Tracks cat skiing is offered before the lifts open for about two hours. The fastest groups have been able to squeeze in seven runs. A continental breakfast is offered before loading the cat. Once the lifts close at Mt. Ellen on April 1, the Cabin Cat is available for private bookings on Sugarbush's highest peak. A Sugarbush guide and a gourmet barbeque lunch at the Glen House is included (cash bar).

Ride the Cabin Cat to the top of Gadd Peak for a candle-lit gourmet dinner in Allyn's Lodge. Hearty meals include hors d'oeuvres, appetizers, entree, dessert, wine and coffee. Ski-down option dependent upon conditions.

Adventures with John Egan provide up to six-hour excursions with a specific advanced skills focus for side country enthusiasts.

Years in Biz: Sugarbush, now in its 53rd season, has been running Cat Skiing for three years. Sugarbush was the first resort in the east offering Cabin Cat adventures.

Size of Tenure: Terrain options are the entire mountain (578 skiable acres, 2,600 feet of vert). Lincoln Peak exclusively until the spring when the Cat moves to Mt. Ellen.

Size of Group: First Tracks, private groups of up to 12

How they Charge: $75 per person for First Tracks, there is no guaranteed run allotment, but most groups get between four and eight runs in.

Mt. Ellen Private Cat Skiing is $1800 for a group of up to 24.

Adventures with John Egan are $599 per person for a full day (six hours).
