There are a few meanings for the word, “Schneetag.” In German, it simply means “Snow Day.” If you’re in Snowmass on closing day, it translates into, “daredevils willing to propel themselves down a hill, over a jump and across a pond on a craft they built themselves."
That is exactly what happens from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 20, the last day of the season at Snowmass. The 7th annual Schneetag consists of teams of four creating a sea-worthy craft that can also shoot down a ski slope. This creation cruises down Spider Sabich and attempts to float across at 75 X 20 foot pond. Each team has a theme and has to perform a skit at the top.
