Ditch the kids for an adult’s-only evening with the Snow Monster’s Den, a childcare facility for kids ages 2 months and older. From 5:30-9 p.m., the Snow Monster’s Den will offer a Valentine’s Day special, keeping kids entertained with Valentine’s Day-themed arts and crafts, heart-shaped pizzas and games, movies and fun. On Saturday, Feb. 15, take the last chairlift up the mountain and explore the trails on a guided snowshoe tour of the backcountry. Guides will point out wildlife and their tracks, geology, flora and fauna. With the slopes closed off to skiers, snowshoers will watch the sunset settle over the Needles Mountain Range.
Afterwards, snowshoe down to the on-mountain facility, the Powderhouse Restaurant, where snowshoers will be treated to champagne and chocolates. The Sweetheart Alpenglow Snowshoe Tour is $60 per person and includes snowshoes, lift ride, guides and after party. Call 970-385-2147 for reservations.
