Resorts in Southwest Colorado celebrate January’s Learn a Snow Sport Month with exclusive, month-long deals for never-ever skiers and snowboarders.

Crested Butte is offering $59 ski or snowboard packages, which features a beginner lesson, a restricted lift ticket and 50 percent off equipment rentals, when booked through The package is for first-time skiers and snowboarders ages 15 and older. First timers heading to Monarch Mountain will receive an all-day lift ticket, equipment and helmet rentals, a 2.5-hour lesson and a snack for $89 (kids ages 7-12) or $99 (adults ages 13+). Visit Monarch’s website for additional information.

Discounted beginner packages are available at Purgatory at Durango for children and adults from Jan. 6–31. Receive a full-day ski or snowboard lesson, all-day rental equipment and a lift ticket for $79 (1-day program) or $158 (2-day program). Upon completion of either package, participants will receive a discount card valid for big savings on future ski or snowboard lessons, lift tickets and rentals throughout the remainder of the season. Wolf Creek will offer beginner packages for your first two visits on snow. The First Day package ($60 skiers, $66 snowboarders) includes an all-day restricted lift ticket and a 4-hour lesson. Sign up for the Second Day package ($70 skiers and snowboarders) and receive an all-day lift ticket and a 2-hour lesson. Equipment rentals are not included, so plan accordingly.
