After a fantastic start to the season and 20-25" of snow two weekends ago, the weather during this past weekend went the other direction. Rain covered all of New England with mountain top temperatures into the upper 30s and low 40s. This is not the news you want to hear, but warm air and rain happens on the east coast, so it’s best to accept it and look ahead to cooler and snowier weather.
Speaking of which, we have at least one of those things to look forward to during the next 1-2 weeks. Colder temperatures are moving back into the region, and should persist through the New Year with only a brief warm up later this week or early this weekend. The weather models aren’t showing any signs of potential powder for the next 1-2 weeks, but the consistent cold air is great news and should allow most resorts to make snow and improve conditions during the holiday week.
The long-range outlook is positive with the cold air continuing into the foreseeable future. So do your snow dance, and be thankful for the return to winter-like temperatures!
