Wisp Resort in Western Maryland has packaged an early season special that should suit those wanting to get a jump start on winter. The Midweek Madness package is available opening day to Dec. 18. Guests pay $59 per person per night for overnight accommodations at the Wisp Hotel and a day lift ticket. The offer is good Sunday - Thursday nights.

The Slide and Ride package kicks in Dec. 18 and is not available on the holiday weekends.  The package includes two nights' lodging Friday and Saturday at the hotel, two day lift tickets, and a single ticket for the Mountain Coaster. Cost is $169 per person, per night.

There's a package for those who may not want to ski or snowboard, but who do want to experience the mountain life. The Bear Claw Adventure package includes a night's lodging, a snow tubing ticket, and another for a Mountain Coaster ride.  Cost is $58 per night Sundays through Thursdays starting Dec. 20. 

The Wisp Card is an option that offers discounts on lift ticket purchases for those frequent visitors who may not want or need a season pass. A $59 weekend lift ticket, for example, costs $47 with the card which costs $79 to purchase. Savings basically amount to a ski or ride four times and the fifth ticket is free.
