Discovery Basin Adds Lifts, Still Offers 5-Pack Ski Deals

Things were a bit noisy at Discovery Basin over the summer. The resort in the Flint Creek Mountains of Montana bustled with building projects and new lift installations.

Discovery Basin installed a new chairlift for this winter. The triple lift, which was purchased from Sun Valley Resort, gives a new life to the Exhibition Lift that used to flank Bald Mountain. Discovery reconstructed the lift into 1,000 vertical feet that serves 300 acres of runs. A new conveyor carpet was also installed for beginners.

The resort also remodeled the lodge. An additional 2,500 square feet were added for indoor seating, plus the Tap 'er Lite Bar now sports a new deck.

Discovery 5-Packs are still on sale through Dec. 25. The packs come with five tickets for $160. That makes the daily lift tickets $32 instead of $35. You can even share the transferable tickets with friends or family members. Discovery 5-Packs are available online.

The resort, which saw its first snowfall in early October, is aiming for a Thanksgiving opening. Lifts normally operate 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Day passes are available for purchase online. Adult passes cost $35 for a full day and $27 for half day. Seniors 65 years old and above and children 12 years old and under can purchase passes for $18. Kids five years old and younger ski free with an adult.
