Singles Save Over New Year In Courmayeur

For singles who fancy seeing in the New Year on the slopes, a special deal from specialist operator, Friendship Travel should appeal.

The company is offering savings of £140 per person on its skiing breaks in the chic Italian resort of Courmayeur which means a seven-night holiday - departing Gatwick on Dec. 27 - now costs £955 per person. 

This price includes return flights, transfers and half-board accommodation with afternoon tea in a double room for sole occupancy at the Chalethotel Cristallo. Facilities at the property, which is located in the centre of town, include sauna and Jacuzzi, perfect for easing aching muscles.

The historic mountain town of Courmayeur sits on the Italian side of Mont Blanc, western Europe's highest mountain. The mountain scenery around Courmayeur is spectacular, with 14 4000-metre mountain peaks above.  The resort is one of several internationally famous centres in the Aosta Valley which runs up Italy's north west border with France and Switzerland.

Unlike Chamonix, Courmayeur is a very atmospheric resort where ancient buildings huddle around cobbled streets so that the whole place oozes traditional charm. Planners have allowed a few ugly concrete blocks to appear (some of them four star hotels) but these are on the outskirts of the town and don't detract from the ambience of the whole.
