Get An Experts' Break At Kirkwood March 23-27

Kirkwood's got a couple of things in store that are right up your alley if you are a college student and/or a hard-core way-off-piste rider,

The Wood is celebrating its Experts Only Spring Break between March 23-27, and those riders who are enrolled in some institution of higher learning can get a sweet deal on lift tickets by picking up a College Card for $20.

This card entitles the holder to score $35 lift tickets during the week and $45 on weekends - and for those skiers and snowboarders over 18 - that represents savings of $37 and $27, respectively, on the daily adult rate.

Meanwhile, advanced backcountry skiers get a chance to test their skills - and bag each of the six peaks that punctuate Kirkwood's ridgeline -- in the Marmot Six Summit Peak Pursuit Sunday April 4.

There are two categories each for men and women: The race division competitors will trek a nine-mile course, gaining approximately 5,758 feet and descending roughly 5,762 feet, while the recreational division covers six miles, and competitors climb approximately 3,450 feet and descend about 3,461 feet. Race fees are $40 and the same-day registration will be held at Timber Creek Lodge from 6 to 8 a.m. (the race will start between 8:30 and 9 a.m.)
