Snowshoe Mountain Resort has big plans, and a season pass deal as well.
Laura Parquette says Snowshoe's season passes are on sale now, at the lowest prices of the year, and include skiing for the few days left in this season as well as all of next.
Adult Passes cost $399, Student/Senior/Military Passes cost $367, Junior Passes cost $399, College Passes cost $299, Midweek Plus Passes cost $295, Senior Plus Passes cost $207, will all prices increasing on May 1, and again on Nov. 1.
Meanwhile March 20-22 is Champagne and Chocolate Weekend, with chocolate-based food and drinks everywhere around the resort.
The Last Hurrah Event is March 21 when Snowshoe celebrates the end of the winter season with the 7thAnnual Sink or Skim Pond Skimming Contest, music, and games.
The pond skimming event, as noted before, is a triumph of hope over experience. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. March 21 on Shaver's Centre Deck, with a limit of 30 contestants; a beachwear contest is at 2 p.m.; the pond skim itself starts at 2:30 p.m.
Awards include King and Queen of the Pond; Best Costume; and Sorriest Skimmer, which gets the winner $25 and a ski lesson.
