Top Spring Skiing Destinations: Aspen/Snowmass

For skiers and snowboarders who aren’t quite ready to give up the joys of winter fun, head to Aspen/Snowmass for the 13th annual Spring Jam, from March 21 to 31. Warm temps are paired with on-hill events and stellar après entertainment for 10 days of proper spring skiing conditions.

Watch or participate as teams of two to five people compete (fully costumed, of course) in a jam-style contest full of jumps, bumps and park features during the Fallen Friends Memorial Event on March 23, where proceeds will benefit the Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club. For more ambitious skiers and riders, compete in the Elk Mountain Grand Traverse, a 40-mile backcountry ski race that travels from Aspen to Crested Butte, or the Battle in the Bowls, a race to tackle the bowls of Aspen Highlands as quickly as possible, on March 30.

When you have time to catch your breath, rock out to a set of jams from the likes of Brett Dennen, March Fourth Marching Band and Grouplove on March 22, 29 and 30 as part of a free concert series at the resort and in downtown Aspen.
