Lake Tahoe skiers and boarders have been enjoying the blue bird skies and spring-like conditions this past month, anxiously awaiting a much-needed storm and more powder turns. According to the National Weather Service out of Reno, NV, this week snow prayers may come true.
According to a weather statement, up to 14 inches of new snow is expected above 7,000 feet around the Lake Tahoe basin. Mammoth Lakes is also expected to receive up to 12 inches in Mammoth Mountain.
Cold temperatures and light snow are estimated to arrive late Monday night with moderate amounts of snow to fall on Tuesday. The Lake Tahoe basin is also expected to experience heavy wind gusts on Monday afternoon and Tuesday, with up to 100 MPH gusts over the crest.
Lake-level snowfalls may be around 2 to 8 inches with up to 14 inches above 7,000 feet near the Sierra Crest. Following that, more snow is anticipated on Thursday and Saturday.
