After Feb. 18, Students Ski or Ride Timberline Midweek for $18 Bucks

We all know college is expensive. Tuition, books and room and board aside, there's a lot of extraneous costs that go along with the pursuit of a higher education. Laptops, food, and all the furnishing needed to transform those cold, sterile dorm rooms and apartments into livable quarters for four years (minimum) of semester-long stints. It's no wonder coffee shops, theaters, sports venues and other retail or recreational outlets offer discounted admission for students. Given that so much is riding on our future generations, it's crucial for their success (and sanity) that students get opportunities to distance themselves from the books, and not be burdened by paying a high cost for their freedom. And what better way is there to clear one's head in winter, than heading to the local mountain and carving away the stress of finals and thesis work? 

West Virginia's Timberline Four Season Resort gets it. That's why Timberline has expanded its College Days special. Monday through Friday, throughout the season, college students can purchase an $18 lift ticket by presenting a current college ID card. Additionally, students can rent ski or snowboard equipment for just $13 and even tack on a lesson for only $16. Night lift tickets and/or rentals (4:30-9 pm) can be purchased for just $8.00 each.

The College Days deal is available Monday-Friday between Feb. 18 and April 1, 2013. 

Of all resorts, wouldn't students choose to go where the skiing and riding is cheapest, not to mention where OnTheSnow readers found their favorite downhill terrain in 2011? Hard to say, but we can only hope that's the kind of education their getting.
