COP Offers Deals For Families And Women

WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park may serve as a training ground for ski and snowboard athletes. But the ski area also serves the local Calgary community. This winter, families and women can get good deals on lift tickets at COP.

Monday evenings give a different twist to a family deal. Instead of giving the kids free lift tickets, the ski area gives parents a free lift ticket with the purchase of a kids' lift ticket. One adult lift ticket is available for each youth or teen ticket purchased.

In addition to the free parent tickets, COP runs a Monday evening special on pizza and pop for $5. Both family deals are available 5-9 p.m. on Mondays until March 18.

Wednesday evenings feature a deal for women at COP. Women can purchase lift tickets for 50 percent off and get specials in the eightyeight lounge. Both specials are available 5-9 p.m. on Wednesdays through March 20.

WinSport still aims to have its second high-speed quad in operation this winter. The installation of the new lift this fall was part of a $4 million project to extend the hill size to meet FIS slalom specifications. Truckloads of dirt added 100 vertical feet and eight acres of new terrain to the ski area. Now, a double black diamond run drops at a 25-degree pitch off the east side, and a NORAM race is scheduled for March.

COP hopes to open the new lift some time in the near future.
