The Alberta Motor Association has the deals for skiers. Alberta Motor Association members can get discounts on lift tickets for several ski areas in Alberta and eastern British Columbia. The catch? You have be an AMA member, and you have to purchase the passes at an AMA centre before going to the resort.
AMA members can purchase the Sunshine-Marmot Card for about $2 less than retail. The card grants free skiing on the first, fourth, and seventh visits to either resort. It also gives $25 off full day lift tickets on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The card is only available for purchase until Jan. 18, 2013.
Sunshine Village offers several discounts. Among them, lift tickets for adults run about $10 less than the ticket window. Ticket purchases through AMA will also get 10 percent discount coupons for lessons and rentals. Some lessons, including private instruction, can be purchased at a discount, too.
AMA Marmot Basin lift tickets run about $9 less for adults. The resort also offers discounts on two lesson packages through AMA.
Lake Louise lift tickets run about $8 less than the ticket window prices for AMA members. Louise Plus cards are also sold through AMA for about $3 off. The cards, available until Jan. 18, 2013, give three free ski days and are good for skiing at Lake Louise, Castle Mountain, Revelstoke, and Panorama Mountain Village.
Lift tickets for Resorts of the Canadian Rockies—Fernie, Nakiska, Kimberley, and Kicking Horse—can be purchased for $10-12 off regular adult tickets through AMA.
One of the best AMA discounts targets families. Several resorts—Sunshine Village, Marmot Basin, Lake Louise, and Nakiska—offer family packs that cover lift tickets for two adults and two or three children. Rates vary depending on the resort, and some have blackout days.
The cost to join AMA is $75 per year for a basic membership. With AMA, you’ll get emergency assistance when driving snowy mountain roads to ski resorts.
