Winter Film Series at Squaw Valley Features Greg Hill Dec. 13

Alpenglow Sports’ second installment of their Winter Film Series will feature Greg Hill’s 2 Million Reasons and The Manaslu Disaster. The event will be hosted at Squaw Valley’s Olympic Village Lodge on December 13, 2012, and entry is free. The show starts at 7 p.m.

Greg Hill is a renowned ski mountaineer who has summited over 190 mountains, pioneered the Northern Monashee Traverse and climbed and skied 9 of the 10 highest peaks in the Selkirk Mountains.

In 2010, Hill sought his toughest challenge yet, to climb and ski over two million vertical feet in 365 days through some of the wildest places on earth. Hill’s slideshow features some huge descents and the struggles along the way. His adventure included covering an average of 5,500 feet per day, climbing 71 mountains, and skiing 1,039 runs in four different countries.

In September, Hill was on hand on Nepal’s Mt. Manaslu when the avalanche swept through Camp 3 and killed 11. Hill reflects on the disaster, the rescue effort and some lessons learned from the tragedy through a slide show and question and answer session during the second half of the show.

There will be a raffle with awesome prizes from sponsors Salomon, Arc’teryx and Black Diamond, and all raffle proceeds benefit the Sierra Avalanche Center (SAC).
