Mt. Washington Alpine Resort has had a string of good snow years. This year appears to be no different. Due to strong early season snow, the resort will crank up its lifts this weekend for skiing and snowboarding.
For the fourth winter in a row, Mount Washington plans to open earlier than scheduled. Lifts are set to load riders starting at 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012.
Opening day for skiing and snowboarding is also the deadline for purchasing Mt. Washington’s 6IXPAKs for the discounted sale rate. The 6IXPAKs are a package of discounted lifts tickets that are transferable. That means you can buy a pack to split between family and friends. You can also go direct to the lifts with the tickets, bypassing the ticket window lines.
The discount ticket packs come with six tickets valid for any day of the season. The packs also include a seventh free ticket valid for skiing or snowboarding in April 2013.
The 6IXPAKs cost $362 for adults, $293 for youth and seniors, and $188 for children. With the regular daily lift tickets costing $71for adults, the ticket packs contain $60 tickets when purchased before Nov. 30. That adds up to an $11 discount per ticket.
After Nov. 30, the 6IXPAKs are still available until April, but at a higher rate. The cost will increase to $405 for adults, $328 for youth and seniors, and $210 for children. For adults, that increases the per ticket rate to $67.5 and shrinks the discount to $3.50.
The 6IXPAK tickets are available for purchase online or in 24 Thrifty Foods locations on Vancouver Island. For the list of locations and purchasing online, go here.
