Wolf Creek Ski Area high up on the Continental Divide in southern Colorado, is known for its deep, deep powder, pristine beauty and abundant lift-serviced backcountry-type terrain.
But what is not so well-known is that Wolf Creek also is a safe haven for beginning skiers and snowboarders. Every morning ski school employees are stationed outside the ticket office to greet and orientate new skiers and boarders to the mountain, help carry equipment and answer any questions.
On the hill, Wolf Creek will start you off right with its 1st Day Beginner Ski & Snowboard Package - for $52 (skiers) or $62 (snowboarders) first-timers, aged nine and older, get a four-hour group lesson and a lift ticket to the Nova Chairlift.
The 2nd Day Beginner Package for both skiers and snowboarders is a follow-up to the 1st Day and makes it even easier to plan your second day of skiing or boarding. A two-hour morning lesson plus a lift ticket for the Nova and Raven Chairlifts costs $63 for skiers and $73 for boarders. The 2nd Day Skier/Boarder Ticket is designed for riders 13 and older who are ready to ski or board more of the mountain but want to have a review of the previous day.
One caveat: Neither beginner package includes rental gear, but Wolf Creek's got you covered there with basic ski-boot-pole rentals going for $14 and snowboard/boot rentals going for $26.
