Targhee Brings On Chix Event Feb. 5-8

Wyoming's Grand Targhee plays host to the Luna Chix program from the North American Ski Training Center in early February. The specialty course gives women skiers the opportunity to train with some of the country's top female instructors-ex-ski racers and PSIA demo team members.

The program, scheduled for Feb. 5-8, is designed to assist women in making the jump into the off piste--to learn and master techniques for skiing powder. The program is also aimed at skiers already proficient off the groomed terrain, but interested in perfecting their skills. Improvement will be aided by video analysis, an indoor technical session, and personal skiing evaluations.

Friday night launches the clinic with a wine and cheese reception. Saturday features ski instruction on the lift-served terrain at Targhee. Sunday and Monday split time between cat-skiing on Peaked Mountain and lift skiing.

The program costs $2,245 if you want to share a room with another workshop participant. Those preferring single rooms can pay $2,415. Rates include three nights' lodging in Teewinot Lodge, three days of lift tickets, guided cat skiing, instruction, three breakfasts, and a group dinner at Targhee Steakhouse Sunday night.

Make reservations through the North American Ski Training Center. You can call them at 530-582-4772.
