Bring Old Coats Nov. 15-16 For New Alta Lift Ticket

Alta has partnered with Salt Lake City's Westminster College to provide coats for Catholic Community Services. CCS of Utah supplies the basics - food, clothing and shelter- and Alta invites everyone to bring new or gently used, clean winter coats of all sizes to the ski area Saturday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 16 from noon to 4 p.m. Westminster ski team members will be in the Wildcat Ticket Office to accept the donations. The first 500 donors will be given a day of skiing at Alta, good any time during the season.

Alta doesn't plan on opening before Nov. 21, but a drive up Little Cottonwood Canyon to donate your coats and get a free lift ticket is worth it. You can always hike or drop over to Snowbird for turns off the tram. 

Don't stay too long. if you're heading up the hill Nov. 15. The Fat Flake Festival kicks off at the Gallivan Center in downtown Salt Lake City at 4:30 p.m. with music by The Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash, Cavedoll, and Junior Giant.  Dust off your neon and stretchpants. Check-in forVintage Ski Outfit Contest starts at 5 p.m.. Winner gets a more updated outfit from Eider and a pair of Rossignol skis and bindings or Burton snowboard.
