Get to Canyon Sports immediately, if you haven't already registered for this extremely inexpensive intro to skiing and snowboarding at [R10R, Alta Ski Area]. Open to first-time skiers or snowboarders, 8 years old and up, the three, two-hour classes for $40 - Nov. 22, Dec. 6, and Dec. 13 - should get you ready to ski greens comfortably. The program, in its 61st year (10th year for the snowboard program), limits its two daily sessions to 400 skiers and 200 boarders. Canyon Sports has special rental packages for $34 for juniors and $39 for adults, for those in need of gear. Students will be able to pick up their equipment prior to the first class, Nov. 22, and hold onto it until after the last class on Dec. 3. Those renting equipment will be able to apply those fees towards a full-season rental - $79.99 for juniors and $84.99 for adults for skis, and $84.99 for juniors and $89.99 for adults for snowboards.
