English (US) (Change)The Minneapolis area struggled over the last couple of years to reestablish a prominent ski and snowboard show to help kick off the snowsports season, but that's all behind them. More than 20,000 snowsports enthusiasts are expected to attend the all-new Minnesota Ski & Snowboard Expo at the Minneapolis Convention Center Nov. 14-16.
"We've put together an exciting Expo for skiers and snowboarders of all ages," says BEWI Production's Bernie Weichsel, which stages similar events in Boston and Denver. "We're thrilled to be revitalizing a consumer expo in the Twin Cities and help Minnesotans kick off the snowsports season."
Plans call for great entertainment, lots of giveaways and special pre-season deals. Exhibitors will include local, regional, and Western ski resorts, along with most major ski and snowboard suppliers. Twin Cities-based Hoigaards is the exclusive retailer for the Expo and will hold a huge sale with deals on apparel, equipment, and a special on helmets.
Entertainment will include a freestyle aerial demonstration by the Sky Riders trampoline team featuring former Olympic athletes; an indoor rail jam competition; an appearance by Glen Plake; learn-to-ski-area for children on a carpeted "mini-mountain;" and après show action in Sliders Saloon.
Over two dozen ski areas from the Gopher State and nearby Wisconsin and Michigan will be providing thousands of value season lift tickets for giveaways to Expo attendees. Local areas like Buck Hill, Wild Mountain, Afton Alps, and Welch Village all will be there.
